Soul Spaces Series Introduction & Letting Go

Lots of life changes here on the prairie in the last month.  May always comes and goes in a flash when you have school-aged kids but this May was an exceptional kind of a whirlwind.  My oldest, my son, graduated high school and left 11 days later for Army basic training (BCT – I’m learning army talk :)) I had intentions of switching up the podcast format a little over the summer while my girls are home from school anyway, but I ended up giving myself a little break before I started planning the release of my Soul Spaces Series.  I planned time off after my son shipped out but it turned out my transition was much easier than I thought.  I share that and more in this episode. Recording this episode wasn’t easy, as you will hear at some points, and I’m a relatively private person, but in light of the recent suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain and others who don’t share the spotlight and fame, I feel like it’s so important that we talk more openly about mental health and wellbeing.  This topic and ideas about creating supportive and healing environments will be threaded throughout the Soul Spaces Series. As my last guest, Steve Linebaugh shared on episode 10, I too, look forward to the day we can talk about anxiety and depression and other mental health and emotional challenges just like we talk about a headache.  I strongly believe our efforts to create more genuine connections with other people is part of this transformation.
